Mission

In our modern global society, sustainable solutions to complex natural and environmental problems consist of scientific and technical elements that are informed by social context and political-legal considerations. While such solutions focus invariably on innovative applications of technology, aspects pertaining to social equity, economic balance and environmental sustainability must be interwoven with technological dimensions to ensure a lasting impact.

This program presents an innovative course of study that emphasizes the interrelationships among these realms and weaves the use of analytical tools with a case study approach to address the key issues that define the future welfare of our global environment. Sustainable Environmental Resources Management integrates a strong and balanced technical program with policy and legal perspectives and reflects the impacts and potential of globalization through examples drawn from environmental issues in the United States, the European Union and Mediterranean countries.
